Description

Curated by Grace Waldrip, a senior art history student in the School of Art, this pop-up exhibition seeks to highlight and define how portraiture has worked alongside social and cultural messaging around wives and wifehood throughout art history.

Featuring portraits of, or related to, wifehood from 1589 to 2001, visitors are invited to explore and piece together their own interpretations through the selection of works.

Join us for remarks from the curator at 11:00 a.m., followed by time to view artworks in the UAMA study classroom and galleries.

The Wives Through Portraits pop-up exhibition is enabled by the support of the Susan Kornhaber Scholarship, the University of Arizona Museum of Art and the Art History Department.
