Originally opened in 1971 at the corner of 2nd and Tyndall, owner Dennis Arnold installed Tucson’s first craft brewery at Gentle Ben’s in 1991. The restaurant was moved to its current location on University Blvd. in 1994, and the brewing operation was relocated to the Barrio location in 2005 in a successful effort to expand capacity. Today, Ben’s features 12 local Barrio Brews on tap, serves up incredible American and Southwest eats as perfected by Chef Jonah Gomes, and also provides offsite catering services and hosts regular onsite banquets.
